A new class of engineering software that addresses the needs of product design engineers will be developed and marketed. These ‘Wizard’ like tools are built off existing product knowledge base and are aimed at the much wider product engineers’ market.

• These KBE tools guide the product development team in a step by step fashion. The user therefore does not need to start the process from a clean sheet and does not need as much depth in their own product. This tool would have a collected intelligence of the particular product built in and the user has to provide input at a fairly high level. Also best practices of the product design and manufacturing can be incorporated in the tool.
• Institutional knowledge / expertise of the client company automatically becomes embedded withing the Knowledge based engineering tool as the client utilizes the solution. This continuously improves the technology while expanding the applicable KBE product areas and the need for such tools.
• Currently DEP is the only vendor with this level of capability and over the last 2 years 8 such knowledge based engineering tools or product wizards as the market refers it to have been developed.
